The central point of meditation is to observe whatever is bubbling up in the mind … and then to let it go. Mind tends to grasp and hold on to happy or fascinating thoughts, or adjust its vision of reality to reinforce them. On the other hand, when thoughts are disturbing or painful, the mind works to suppress them or blame some external force for the disharmony. So whether your thoughts are happy or sad, mind is constantly busy devising strategies according to its own preferences. Meditation is the way to take a break by withdrawing from the whole mind game. Experiencing a more detached perspective restores a sense of wellbeing which radiates from the inside out.
